Meet our Directors |
 |
Rick Kready,
our Director, is a 3rd
generation barbershopper in the Kready family. Rick joined the
society in 1978 and never slowed down. He has directed the
Topeka chorus for over 13 years, and also directed the Salina,
Ks and Joplin Mo. chapters. Rick has sung in over 21 quartets,
appeared on the International stage, both as a quartet member
and as a chorus member. Rick has won the Central States District
Quartet Championship with 3 different quartets , and was named
the Barbershopper of the year for Central States District in
1997.

Don Suffron is a 38 year Barbershopper,
singing bass in the chorus. He begin singing with the Lawrence
Ks. Chapter in 1972 and joined the Topeka chapter about 1981.
Don has sung in numerous quartets over the years and has held
chapter offices, and has been both director, and associate
director for many years. Don is currently singing bass with the
quartet, T-Town IV.

Don Newman
is currently the assistant director after retiring from many
years as Director. Don is one of a few Directors in Central
States to have been awarded by the "BARBERSHOP HARMONY SOCIETY"
the distinction of
being a CERTIFIED DIRECTOR,
for he training ,schooling and expertise in directing. In
his 38 years as a barbershopper Don has sung in numerous qts. and
has sung all 4 parts in various qts. and choruses. Don has
appeared on International stage 7 times with the Kansas City
Chapter, as assistant director, tenor section leader and coach.
Don has held most chapter offices and currently sings baritone
with the Topeka Chorus.

2011 BARBERSHOPPER OF THE YEAR
Every year Barbershop Choruses
through out the country choose a member who has shown
outstanding contributions to their Chapter.
Topeka chapter members choose Rick Kready as Barbershopper of
the Year for 2011. Rick is a 3rd generation Barbershop
singer and currently directs the Topeka Chapter. Rick also
sings in a Quartet with his Dad, a member of the Topeka chapter.
Under Ricks direction the Topeka chapter is becoming a
finely tuned singing unit. Come visit us and sing a
song or two with us any Tuesday evening.

at Fairlawn Church of the
Nazarene, 730 SW Fairlawn Rd. Topeka Ks. Two shows 2:30 and 7:30 PM.

placed in the top 10 in the world this past year in competition
